The 5-Minute Commuter Skincare Routine
Busy mornings, real protection. A routine built around your schedule — not a beauty blogger's.
The skincare industry wants you to believe you need 12 products and 45 minutes. You don't. For commuters, consistency beats complexity every time. Here's the routine that takes 5 minutes and covers 80% of your skin's needs.
Step 1: Cleanse (60 seconds)
Use a gentle gel or foam cleanser. Massage for 45 seconds, rinse with lukewarm water. Avoid hot water — it strips natural oils and leaves skin vulnerable to pollution. Skip the scrub on weekday mornings; it over-exfoliates already-stressed commuter skin.
Step 2: Vitamin C Serum (30 seconds)
3–5 drops, pat onto face and neck while still slightly damp. Vitamin C is your single most powerful defence against both UV damage and pollution-generated free radicals. It also brightens over time. This is non-negotiable for commuters.
Pro tip
Keep your Vitamin C serum in the fridge. It lasts longer and the cool sensation reduces morning puffiness.
Step 3: Moisturise (45 seconds)
Match your moisturiser to your city's humidity. High humidity (Mumbai, Chennai): lightweight gel. Low humidity or AC-heavy environments (Delhi winter, Bangalore offices): slightly richer emulsion. Apply to face and neck.
Step 4: SPF (45 seconds)
This is the one step most Indians skip and most regret. Apply SPF 50+ generously — most people apply 25% of the recommended amount, which gives you effectively SPF 8 protection. Two fingers' worth of product for face and neck is the standard.
